Virtual FAQs and Tips For Your Best Experience
What is a Virtual Class at Yoga Life Studio?
Yoga Life’s virtual classes are our same high-quality traditional classes offered online! You can join all of your favorite teachers from the comfort of your home or anywhere in the world and practice together. The teacher sees you (via zoom) on a large screen and teaches to you specifically. You are able to view the teacher (or a student demonstrating the class for power and vinyasa classes) and follow along throughout. All of our classes are offered virtually.
What is a Live Streamed Class at Yoga Life Studio?
Yoga Life’s Live Streamed classes are our in-person classes simply streamed live (via zoom). This allows you to join the class in studio from wherever you are! This offering gives you the experience of the group’s energy and a greater view of the entire class.
How do I join a Virtual Class or Live Streamed Class?
1. Log-in to your Punchpass account through our online schedule.
2. Make a reservation for the Virtual or Live Streamed class you wish to take.
3. You would then receive a reservation confirmation email containing a URL or Zoom Link.
4. Create a Zoom account. Log-in to Zoom.
5. Click the Zoom link from your reservation email 10-15 minutes prior to the class start time and you will be directed to our virtual class.
6. The teacher will greet you upon entry and class will begin on time.
What is Zoom?
Zoom is a free video and audio-conferencing platform that we use at Yoga Life for all of our Virtual classes. Please be sure you have created a Zoom account prior to entering our virtual classes. The set-up of your zoom account can take about 5 minutes.
What if I don’t have my own yoga props at home?
Beach Towels, Large firm pillows, and/or firm blankets can be used in place of Yoga blankets or bolsters. Thick books or more firm towels or blankets can replace Yoga blocks. Belts or neck ties can replace a Yoga strap. And, anything that can cover the eyes gently is always nice as an eye pillow during our final relaxation in Savasana.
Can I access these virtual classes after the Live offering?
Yes! We have an On-Demand Video Content Library available for $15/month. You can practice anytime and anywhere with our Library. It has hundreds of videos ranging from guided meditations to Power classes.
Tips for your best experience:
Turn on your camera and know that camera position matters
To receive individual cues and guidance, leave your camera on and position it so that the teacher can see your full body on your mat while standing and sitting.
Show up early for class
If you need to step away and gather your props or doing anything, feel free. But, logging in early gets you set up and not rushed to enter class. You can enter early and even sit on your mat peacefully; breathe or start to stretch and open the body.
Chat with your teacher and fellow yogis
Another reason to show up early. Take advantage of the time we have at the beginning. Talk to the teacher and your fellow students. We sure do miss you all in studio and love to hear from you before and after classes. This is what makes us a community!
Create a routine and follow a schedule
Before virtual, you had some sort of Yoga schedule. You can get that back with virtual! Register for all of the classes you wish to take at the beginning of the week. Arrive to class slowly and dedicate that time to YOU! Leave class slowly, just as you would in person, and take the lessons from your mat into your day.
Create a dedicated space to practice in
This always helps bring you to your mat and keep you coming back. A dedicated space or anything that makes the time you’re taking to practice feel special. An actual altar, vase of flowers, candle, putting an essential oil on your skin or diffusing can help bring a greater presence to your practice, enhancing the benefits long term.
